I recently purchased a set of Ultimate Background Stencils from
Cindy's Threadworks. She carries
Cindy Needham's stencils as well as a variety of other thread related products. I have long been a fan of Cindy Needham's work. I came across a table cloth with a small amount of open work and thought it was time to try some of Cindy's techniques. Then
Quilt Shop Gal offered a few incentives to get started.

I traced the feathers and added the background stencil onto the top. |

Cut away detail. |
A quilting friend who is an amazing hand quilter suggested using overhead pens in green to mark quilting lines. This is a first for me. I'm looking forward to washing it out to see how the quilting looks. That's a long way off though. There will be quite a bit of detail quilting to come.
